LASIK Eye Surgery in Busan, Korea
A proven laser treatment for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. A femtosecond laser creates a thin corneal flap and an excimer laser reshapes the cornea underneath, so most patients see clearly within a day or two.
LASIK, explained in one minute
LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) corrects your prescription by reshaping the cornea. A femtosecond laser lifts a thin hinged flap, an excimer laser reshapes the tissue beneath it, and the flap is laid back in place to heal naturally.
LASIK can treat a wider range of prescriptions than flapless SMILE, including farsightedness. Because a flap is created, it is less suited to people with thin corneas or those in contact sports, who may be better matched to SMILE Pro, LASEK or ICL.
At BGSS Eye Clinic in Busan, Korea, every patient first has a full diagnostic exam so the doctor can confirm whether LASIK or another option is the safest choice.
Four steps, usually both eyes in one visit
The laser stages take only minutes. Most of your visit is preparation, measurements and a short rest afterwards.
Numbing drops
Your eyes are cleaned and numbed with drops, and a lid holder keeps you from blinking.
A thin flap
A femtosecond laser creates a thin, hinged flap on the surface of the cornea.
Reshaping
The excimer laser reshapes the cornea underneath to correct your prescription.
Flap repositioned
The flap is laid back in place, where it adheres naturally without stitches.
Benefits of LASIK
LASIK remains one of the most widely performed vision correction procedures in the world. Whether it suits you depends on your exam results.
Fast visual recovery
Most patients notice clear vision within one to two days and return to office work soon after.
Wide treatment range
Treats nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
Comfortable procedure
Numbing drops are used, and most people feel pressure rather than pain.
Both eyes, one visit
Both eyes are usually treated on the same day.
Precise measurements
Pentacam, Galilei G4 and other tomography devices map your cornea before treatment.
Alternatives on site
If LASIK is not right for you, SMILE Pro, LASEK and ICL are all available at BGSS.
LASIK vs SMILE Pro vs LASEK
All three are laser treatments. They differ in how the cornea is opened and how fast you recover.
| LASIK | SMILE Pro | 2DAY LASEK | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corneal opening | Hinged flap | Small incision, no flap | No flap, surface treatment |
| Treats | Myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism | Myopia, astigmatism | Myopia, astigmatism |
| Visual recovery | About 1–2 days | Next day for most | Daily life from about 48 hours |
| Thin corneas | Less suitable | Depends on thickness | Often suitable |
| Contact sports | Flap care needed | No flap | No flap |
Your doctor recommends a procedure after measuring your corneal thickness, shape and prescription. See SMILE Pro and LASEK.

LASIK in Busan: frequently asked questions
What is LASIK?
LASIK is a laser vision correction procedure in which a femtosecond laser creates a thin corneal flap and an excimer laser reshapes the cornea underneath to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism.
Is LASIK available in Busan, Korea?
Yes. BGSS Eye Clinic in Seomyeon, Busan offers LASIK together with SMILE Pro, SMILE, 2DAY LASEK and ICL, with support for international patients in English and Chinese.
Does LASIK hurt?
Numbing eye drops are used, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain. Mild discomfort or watering for a few hours afterwards is normal.
How soon can I see after LASIK?
Most patients notice clear vision within one to two days, and vision continues to settle over the following weeks.
Is LASIK or SMILE Pro better?
Neither is better for everyone. LASIK treats a wider range of prescriptions, including farsightedness. SMILE Pro avoids a flap, which many active patients prefer. Your doctor recommends the right option after your exam.
Can I have LASIK with thin corneas?
Thin corneas may make LASIK less suitable. In that case your doctor may recommend 2DAY LASEK or ICL instead.
Are both eyes treated on the same day?
Usually yes. Your doctor confirms your plan after the exam.
