Laser cataract surgery uses a femtosecond laser to perform key steps of cataract removal, such as the lens opening and softening the cataract, with computer-guided precision. The clouded lens is then replaced with an intraocular lens (IOL); a multifocal lens is a premium IOL designed to focus at more than one distance.
BGSS uses the Catalys and VICTUS femtosecond laser platforms. Laser assistance can make certain surgical steps more consistent, while the final lens choice decides how well you see at different distances.
Multifocal lenses are not right for everyone. Retina conditions, severe dry eye, irregular corneas or very demanding night driving may make an EDOF or monofocal lens the better choice, so careful screening comes first.
